Netherlands: Four “The Voice” Candidates for Nationaal Songfestival 2012 + Snippets

Posted: January 5, 2012 by eurovisiontimes in Netherlands

Netherlands – Several Dutch media, had reported recently that the six candidates for the Nationaal Songfestival 2012 would almost all have a connection to a show of John de Mol. Today TROS announced the names of the participants and 4 of them were participants in “The Voice of Holland”, one is known to write songs for participants of the show. Mol is one of the most successful television producers on the planet and has taken responsibility for the Dutch national final this year. His casting show “The Voice of..” is the biggest success of the television season in many countries.

The six contenders will battle each other in duels, with the winner of each of the three duels advancing to the superfinal. The winner will be chosen by a 50/50 mixture of tele- and jury voting. An international jury consisting of 2 people from each of the participating countries in Eurovision will also be part of the show, but will not have an influence on the final verdict, their opinion is supposed to be advice for the judges and audience.  The final will be held on February 26.

Here are the competitors:

You can listen to small snippets of the entries here!

And here the artists are presented and interviewed + some more snippets!

  • Raffaela Paton – Chocolatte (Winner of Dutch Idol in 2006, recent The Voice candidate)
  • Joan Franka – You and Me (Former The Voice participant)
  • Ivan Peroti – Take Me As I Am (song writer for The Voice participants)
  • Pearl Jozefzoon – We Can Overcome (Runner-up in The Voice’s first season)
  • Tim Douwsma – Undercover Lover (So You Wannabe a Popstar participant)
  • Kim de Boer – Children of the World (3rd in the first season of The Voice)

It seems quite unlikely that the best songs out of the hundreds of submissions were largely by The Voice candidates.

Oh dear, some of these titles sound even worse than the Danish ones. What can a fan do but hope for something good after all is said and done. Good luck.

P.S.: According to the other site, they’re going for the duets system. Wrong move, but when one relies on a reality tv expert, what was there to be expected? Oh well… Raffaela’s oncle performed my nº1 song from 1992. I must say that the title of her songs sounds delicious. :)

We should do sth like that…we had AMAZING talent show on Prva Tv this year with many competitrs who would be interested in ESC because they are at the beginning of career! Not Zeljko Joksimovic again, I’m speechless, I can’t believe ! :( :( :(

For example Darija for us would be AMAZING:

  3. Iwan says:

Euro vision not only good voice also perfomance & good song !

  4. Marko says:

It’s really not nice and fair you deleted my comment, it wasn’t against anybody here, but only against our broadcaster! :( :( :(

  5. Xello says:

You cant actually hear anything musch… I think it will be good NF-from what is heard…

  6. I have no idea why you can be positive about this NF… any NF that turned into a pop star show turned close to disaster (starting from Oepracion Triumfo in Spain) and it’s not just because Lena came out of it that it means good things

I am fully against everything de Mol has done so far and I am fearing the worst, especially considering what NL has done so far in recent esc… of course “Chocolate” is the only one that makes me hope a tad bit, the rest…

  7. Marko says:

I can be positive because I LOVE it and I heard snippets and they are AMAZING for me, and they have great live vocals! Plus three singers are black! I think I will LOVE this NF! :)

    @ eurovisiontimes

OK if I’m funny for you, I think it’s OK to laugh at me, but to make a fool of me when you don’t have to do anything else… I think it’s quite unfair! :( But i stay calm now whatever you tell me..I have noticed that you enjoy to disparage some ppl and laugh to them a lot, I noticed that with Jack from the UK…you make a fool of him all the time and laugh at his comments! That’s not OK..but your business..

    Good night! :)

    • I’m not laughing at you! I just really didnt use the word amazing at all…

EDIT: I think I didn’t understand you… you were talking about Milan when you said amazing? I thought you were talking about Joksimovic and quoted me… sorry! But you also didn’t understand me… I was basically agreeing with you that there were a lot of balkan ballads from Serbia and as a counter example I named Stankovic

and again: nothing to get all worked up about… just chitchat
