Iceland – Our friends at escnorge.com report that the Icelandic representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004, Jónsi, will participate in next year’s Icelandic national final Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2012. Jónsi will perform a duet with Greta Salome Stefánsdottir, who also wrote the entry. In addition to being a singer and songwriter, she is also a violinist in the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Jónsi told escnorge that their song is an ethno-rock ballad.
Greta Salome Stefánsdottir has written a second entry for the Icelandic selection which she will perform with Heida Olafsdottir and Guðrún Árny.
Jónsi represented Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 in Istanbul with the song “Heaven”. He also competed in the Icelandic selection in 2007 with the song “Segðu mer”.
Here are the two songs:

YEEEES! “Heaven” is 3rd on my 2004 list (1. S&M, 2. TR) and “Segðu mer” should have won in 2007! Great news!
yeah he’s in my top of 2004 too (behind Turkey, Poland, Serbia and Lithuania) and also my favorite in 2007 NF (and would have made my top of esc 2007 which I really dislike, only Georgia’s up the level)… there’s a great chance that Iceland will remain top form this year after last year’s nice NF and I hope to see Jonsi in my final top 15 at the end of the season
Nice, I hope Iceland will send a good entry as they usually do
Both songs are totally nothing special, especially 2004 ESC entry (results show that, don’t say diaspora because Yohanna and Euroband did great with televoting form all over Europe)…this NF song is different because is not in English…but except that it’s totally nothing new and special…and vocals are just average….vice is ugly for me…which genre it is? Rock music and fancy dressed guy?? What the hell… he looks great, but that’s far from enough for me…
Totally opposite here. I love his voice but don’t think that he is a very handsome guy. He is blonde after all …
Handsome and a good voice… But Heaven didn’t do it for me… Let’s see what he comes up with. Ethnic rock ballad sounds great to me! (I hope Iceland-ethnic… not something completely excotic)
‘Heaven’ was my dad’s n° 1 in 2004 (together with Belgium) and he couldn’t care less whether a guy is blonde or dark or purple … or handsome or a Quasimodo …
I don’t know why (as so often) but it doesn’t have that special thing I need to feel in a song ^^
“Heaven” is a very great song in audio, the reason I have it only 5th is that it’s kinda lame and boring live mostly because Jonsi wasn’t charismatic… He’s absolutely stunning imo (everyone knows i love blonde boys) but he wasn’t great live that’s all… on the other hand in 2007 he’s hot and he totally works with the camera eprfect, he should have won the NF he would have done great in esc 2007… Manuel what do you think of the 2007 entry then?
I’d like to see Erna from last year again…or the best would be Kaja Halldórsdóttir – “Lygin Ein”, she is the best in Icelandic NF ever!! :-**
I am looking forward to listening to the Icelandic hopefuls. Jónsi knows how to sing live.
I never liked his 2004 entry as it was boring, but I loved Segðu mer and I wanted him to win over Eirkur. Ethno-rock ballad sounds great! I hope something with oomph wins at least.
Nice to hear as he sang my favourite Icelandic entry since the abolishment of the language rule (okay, I am not so much an Iceland fan I need to add). 2004 was a year with some very great songs but also a lot of disasters IMHO.
