Eurovision Advent Calendar – 02 days until Christmas – Day 22 of our challenge – Granted, this is not your traditional Advent Calendar, but it will fulfil it’s purpose: Giving us something to discuss until Christmas Eve (and until the real beginning of the national final season in January). The idea is old and simple: Every day you have to find a Eurovision song according to a certain category. It’s a challenge for me and for you, our readers! We continue today with this question: What is your least favourite entry ever at a Eurovision Song Contest?
Please tell us your personal “favourite” in the comment section below! If your choice is quite exotic a YouTube link to the song will certainly be appreciated by other readers
Here we go:
Again.. lots to choose from. “I love Belarus” was horrible this year, not the music or the performance, but the lyrics! Israel in 2000 with their horrible performance or Ireland’s Dustin the Turkey are just a little too obviously bad to make the cut. In the end it needs to be a song that tries to be good but fails miserably. There is one that I really hate (mostly because it keeps crawling into my brain from time to time):
Piero Esteriore & The MusicStars – Celebrate! (Switzerland 2004)
Looking forward to your choices and comments!

‘Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley’ and it managed to win… silly 80s.
For mi is also one winner LOL..it’s definitely 2009 Norway Alexander Rybak – “Fairytale”..he is so annoyong and his song..I hate him to Maximum…aaaaaaa
Kreisiraadio’s ‘Leto svet’ (Estonia 2008) closely followed by ‘Wolves of the Sea’ (Latvia 2008) and ‘Have Some Fun’ (Czech Rep. 2008). 2008 was a love it or hate it year for me.
Least favourite German entry: Guildo Horn (1998).
And if we remember that ‘Wolves of the Sea’ beat ‘Senhora do mar’ … that’s televoting! GRRRRR
So agree on Wolfes of the Sea… shame.
Israel 2000 has my vote.
I hated “I love Belarus” so much… still so annoying !!!
lol I hate this Qele Qele song… so annoying to me! I never understood the fuss about it. :/
All the fuss was about Sirusho’s flying breasts, I guess. Men will always be men.
I HATE Turkey 2006. Some of the others may be bad, but I can happily joke around and laugh about them. I just get depressed/angry when I think about Turkey 2006.
I like the dancers… and the pants *guilty*
Bad Manuel! You should be more like Jazmin and agree with me! Lol
By the way, what is your gravatar image? I can’t help but be reminded of Russia 1994 when I look at it.
It’s Adele, right Manuel ?
Totally agree! It’s just simply awful…
I like this one very much!
I’m going with Germany 2003, Lou – Let’s get happy
It’s soooooooooooooo happy, OMG!
my least favourite entrys are, serbia 2007 ‘marija serifovic – molitva’ uk 2007 ‘scooch – flying the flag’ and russia 2010 ‘peter nalitch – lost and forgotten’
I adore ‘Molitva’ and ‘Lost and Forgotten’. Celebrate diversity!
My least favourite entry is PingPong – Sameyakh (Israel 2000) followed by Gipsy.cz – Aven Romale (Czech Republic 2009), Kreisiraadio – Leto Svet (Estonia 2008) and Teapacks – Push The Button (Israel 2007).
I love ‘Push the Button’ too. Celebrate diversity!
At least this is an easy one: Remedios Amaya – Quién maneja mi barca (Spain 1983)
And another one I love. Celebrate diversity! LOL
Celebrate diversity! Oleyyy!!!
@eurovisiontimes
do you know about the american version of Eurovision?
well, Next year (March) there will be an American-Style Eurovision called OTI Music Festival (OTI means: Organización de Televisión Iberoamericana/ Iberoamerican Television Organization) and it will return after a 12 year break, you should investigate about that It will be nice for US, the Latinamerican readers to se something about that
PD: I LOVE this blog, don’t abandone it as you did last year, I was so sad
Here.. Is a recap of all the winners of the previous version
http://youtu.be/5gk3AecN-JQ
Very difficult question…what I got in my head now is this
pirate-thing from Latvia, I think it was 2007, i’m not sure…but i HATED it
Germany 2000… just awful. It’s funny at first, but when you think it ended up in top 5, it becomes really, really sad.
Israel 1978, Italy 1990, Ireland 1987
Envie de Vivre by Nathalie Sorce (Belgium 2000) and Dans Le Jardin De Mon Ame by Francince Jordi (Switzerland 2002) = BLECH!!!
Israel 2000 is the worst, and the more irritating song on Eurovision EVER!!!!
UK 2010
NORWAY 2009
AZERBAIJAN 2011
This trophy has to go to “I Love Belarus”. Why this wasn’t disqualified for its ideological background is absolutely beyond me.
Greece 2011, Watch My Dance. It just doesn’t go together and its….its….Blegh!! I can’t stand it.
Wolves of the Sea was amazing. Y’all bitches be crazy.
The worst for me is Denmark 2009. Assembly line garbage. Croatia 2011 was also horrendous.
Spain 1980. I just don’t like it. Too “dark”.
Switzerland 2004? It should at least be a song that made the final.
Better limit this to the years when I was paying attention.
01. 2005 Greece (and lowest scoring winner ever until 2011)
02. 2003 Austria
03. 2008 Iceland
04. 2009 Finland
05. 2007 Sweden
06. 2010 Iceland
07. 2009 Russia
08. 2011 France
09. 2004 Belgium
10. 2011 Estonia (more overhyped songs than usual this year – including this one)
11. 2009 Turkey
12. 2003 Latvia
13. 2006 Switzerland
Some non-qualifiers (worse songs in general, but at least they didn’t make the final):
01. 2006 Iceland (truly annoying)
02. 2008 Estonia
03. 2007 Denmark
04. 2010 Latvia
05. 2009 Belgium
06. 2011 Croatia
07. 2008 Ireland
08. 2004 Lithuania
09. 2007 Switzerland
10. 2011 Israel
11. 2005 Portugal
12. 2007 Austria
13. 2007 Albania (I have a special dislike of that year)
14. 2011 Norway (another bad year)
