    Thank you Luis!! :)

    • luludrops says:

I just wrote the last two sentences and added the video because I was in a hurry :P , eurovisiontimes should get the credit for making the article more complete with all the extra information. :*

  2. togravus says:

Judging on past Belarussion entries, I think I need some time to brace myself for this … ;) :) Well, I am still working anyway and will listen when I am finished.
Any first impressions of those who have already dared listening to those snippets?

    • I will listen to them once I’m finished learning… I want at least ONE good song ^^ Anyway, in the end they will probably change everything 20 times… and in the end we have a song and an artist we never heard of ^^

  3. they’re not in running order so it was hard to match them all… once more Litesound are the most promising to me, but I’m not thrilled yet by any

    • Marko says:

      Quite weak lineup…
Gunesh surprised me, she is the best for now :O OMG… because in this video we can’t see all snippets from the list..

      @ Morgan

if you don’t understand cyrilic ask me who is who! :)

      • can you make the list of the 15 singers and entries in the running order of the video instead? but dont trouble yourself if you dont have the time it’s ok, thanks for proposing the help

        • Marko says:

No problem at all…but I’m not sure maybe for somebody here it is problem, i’m never sure when i make problems.. it’s forbiden for me to write some words ;)

          1. Gunesh
          2. Litesound
          3. Nuteki
          4. The Champions (hahah guy from Jamaica has even worse accent than Belarussian singer.. :D )
          5. Uzari
          6. Aleksandra Gaiduk & Nataliya Baldina
          7. Alena Lanskaya
          8. Anna Blagova
          9. Victoria Aleshko
          10. German
          11. Annastasiya Vinnikova (GOSH she is the worst definitely NO COMMENT :S)

    • You should learn to read cyrillic ^^ it’s fun!

      • togravus says:

I cannot speak a word but know the alphabet. I was a georgraphy junky from a very young age (in fact, I learnt reading at the age of 5 because my parents had got tired of reading the atlas to me …) and insisted on putting the cities and town in national alphabet on my lists. :)
Btw, from a purely ornamental point fo view I prefer the cyrillic alphabet to the latin one.

  4. Marko says:

Victoria Aleshko – “Dream” could be good as well!

  5. Marko says:

    @ eurovisiontimes

if you have learn Bulgarian alphabet you would know that it’s not Uzari, but Yuzari, because letter Ю is not /U/, but /Yu/!
So I suggest you next time dont learn alphabet just for fun! ;)

    • I’m just gonna see this as a friendly indication of a possible mistake and will pass by your attempt to provoke me yet again…

I know that Ю is pronounced /ju/ (the y actually is not phonologically correct here)

I may have to point out the fact that a word initial u is very often realized as /ju/ in English

for example: use [ju:z], Ural [jʊərəl], Ukraine [ju:ˈkreɪn]
on the other hand the letters ju are often realized as a dschu sound as in : july [ʤʊˈlaɪ], Julia e.t.c

that’s why many native speakers of English transcribe Ю especially in word initial position as U

that is by the way how every fansite and wikipedia transcribed the name as well, and probably the transciption they use themselves…

There is no right way to transcribe anyway: Here is the German, English and French transcription of the last Sowjet leader’s name: Michail Gorbatschow Mikhail Gorbachev Mikhaïl Gorbatchev

Last but not least: I didn’t learn it for fun… I learned it to (basically) survive….

  6. Litesound or Gunesh and to a lesser extent Victoria Aleshko in my opinion…

  7. Marko says:

Aura – Hands up will probably be the best..but we cant hear it now!

  8. togravus says:

Well, hard to tell because the sound quality is so bad. I expect most of them to sound much better live. The good thing is that I will probably like most of them better than any entry Belarus has sent to ESC so far. There are only two acts that I won’t like even with a perfect live: The Champions and Annastasiya Vinnikova … and I find it pretty hard to imagine liking German and Gunseh either, but we will see. For now, I am rooting for Litesound. Their song might not be better than some others here but it comes closest to what I generally like. Aleksandra Gaiduk & Nataliya Baldina, Anna Blagova and Victoria Aleshko seem to be the best choices if we think about results. All of them seem to be quite good ballads that might get a lot of support from the juries.
Finally, for the first time ever I am sort of looking forward to the Belarussian NF. Hope that they won’t change the entry again once it has been chosen.

    • Marko says:

Plus there are still 4 songs to listen to..because in this video, there is only 11!

      • togravus says:

Yes, let’s hope that there is even better stuff there. I soooo want to add a Belarussian ESC song to my list of favourites. So far Irina Yarina’s song from the 2007 NF is first on my list. I know that it is rather cheap (I could have said catchy too … LOL) but I sort of like it nevertheless.
Btw, does anyone know what it was like live? I didn’t watch that NF and couldn’t find a YT clip. :(

    • Apart from the bad sound (but it’s a youtube video), I was well pleased with the overall look. It looked like an actual selection done, with different styles, actual singers (some of them are promising) and yes very generic songs, but no horrors as it used to be. True, things seem to lack a magic special something, but it’s by far not as bad as it used to be a few years ago and I also am curious to how it’ll turn out live. I also support Litesound. They’ve been my #1 each year they took part in so I trust them live. And hope to find them in Baku.

    • togravus says:

“I expect most of them to sound much better live.”
I meant with a better live production of course.

  9. roselildk says:

its not easy to select what is what is in the videos.. btw there are some good some between, I am always ready to put them on my favorite list.. good luck Belarus

  10. roselildk says:

RoselinN.. hahaha.. I didnt notice at first am a bit drunk. my Godness!!

  11. luludrops says:

Yeah, it’s not complete, but don’t worry guys, I’m on the hunt for the missing ones! :D

  12. Shevek says:

I am trying to go through the snippets atm.

Janela ESC has posted an article on this subject citing ET as the source.

    • Shevek says:

I managed to listen to the availabke snippets and it’s fairly obvious that Litesound seem to be the best choice atm. There is still a long way to go.

P.S.: you’re right, Marko, Vinnikova is just unbelievably bad.

  13. roselildk says:

there are too many ballads.. I guess I will root for Uzari, not the best song but it sounds good to my ears so far.. Better to wait for the whole song I may change my mind

  14. tehoe says:

They all seem just a little above average… Except Litesound, which is a little better…
And Anastasia, she is quite bad, although I can see her representing Belarus again (and failing once again to get to the final ^^)

  15. L says:

Most of them sing so terrible in those clips, the sound is bad, the accents are bad and the songs are not good either. Litesound is easily the best here. I hope Aura can deliver the goods, she has minor potential to be one of the best at least. I do think Litesound will end up being my favourite anyhow, it’s only 4 songs left to be heard.

  16. paschalisb says:

Overall impression: disappointed. Like many have said, I wonder why they sing in english with this accent. Some songs have potential, but the accent totally ruins them.
My favorites are Litesound and Uzari.

  17. Marko says:

Gunesh reminds me of 3+2 – “Butterflies” actually! :D

I like it, also reminds me of Mika Newton “Angel”… I like it!

  18. Jázmin says:

Based on the snippets my favourites are Litesound, Alena Lanskaya and Victoria Aleshko.
