FYR Macedonia – ESCxtra.com reports that the Macedonian song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 will be determined in 2012. The popular singer Kaliopi has already been internally selected to represent the Balkan country in Azerbaijan next year. The songs will not be found through an open call, but certain songwriters will be contacted directly and Kaliopi will choose a yet undetermined number of songs. These will be presented in the selection show in February, where the Macedonian audience will be able to choose Kaliopi’s entry for Baku.
It has not been revealed whether Kaliopi will be writing an entry herself. The only certainty is that all the songs will be in Macedonian. Kaliopi was supposed to represent Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996, but she didn’t manage to qualify from a special qualification round (early version of the semi-finals).
