FYR Macedonia – According to several websites, it has been announced that Kaliopi will sing in her native language at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. Other details have emerged such as the fact that there will be three songs on offer, all in different styles and that the winning song will be announced in February.
The three styles Kaliopi mentioned were a ballad, something à la Tina Turner, and a mystery (perhaps still undecided) one. She has also hinted that she would like the involvement of one of her friends, Kiril Dzajkovski, Duke Bojadziev, Darko Dimitrov, or perhaps a world-famous producer. She told jounalists at a press conference in Skopje today: “I’m not sure yet whether to enter with a strong ballad, or an energetic song in the style of Tina Turner . For sure, the song will be modern, with folk features”.
The news also left some locals thinking that it could be possible that Kaliopi herself will choose the song. So will the song will be selected internally as well? Stay tuned.

Great post Luis, plus hope she can bring a great song from Macadonia!
Thank you. I really hope she’ll deliver, she might even get the country’s first top 10
Hopefully, I think we can all expect big things from the Balkans this year!
I wonder what Bosnia & Herzegovina will cook up
I still hope that they will cook up Hari Mata Hari … but with Zeljko representing Serbia, I would probably wait for another year if I was HMH.
Yes, I would wait too if I was him
Luis and Jack you really think that Kaliopi will be contender for top 10? :O I love her, but let’s be realistic, she will struggle to qualify singing in Macedonian language, an ethnic song…especially if Zeljko Joksimovic, Hari Mata Hari and Desislava will go to ESC…they will get all televotes..Macedonia is country which struggles not only with jury like other Eastern European countries..but with televoting as well..
who doubts Bosnia ? really ?
That sounds good to me!
A power ballad in macedonian with that voice? I would meld away!!!
I hope she will enter with some strong ballad…
Good choice, Kaliopi.
Good luck.
