France – As our friends at Eurovision au Quotidien report, Bruno Berbes, the head of the French delegation has confirmed the Grande Nation’s participation at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan. Unfortunately thoughts on a possible national final, which was reported to be a done deal right before this year’s Eurovision, seem to have been dismissed. Berbes said that France will one again select their representative internally.
The last time France held a national final was in 2007 when the Fatals Picards won. Since then only Patricia Kaas has managed to bring the once glorious Eurovision nation back into the Top 10. Last year Amaury Vassili was a favourite to win but only came 15th in the final with his ballad “Sognu“

I am so glad that my favourite ESC country will be there.
Something similar to their fantastic entries from 1990 to 1992 would be great for me, but with a 21st century sound of course.
What a beautiful day this is! Sunshine, almost 20 degrees on my roof terrace, I am watching one of my favourite contests (1996) and now France has confirmed.
Btw, does anyone understand why that mediocre Estonian duet with far from perfect live vocals came 5th in such a strong year (1996)? Was it because of this old guy and young girl thing? How many older men were in the juries that year? LOL
The weather here is cold for our standards – 13ºc. It poured yesterday and there were flash floods in the lowest areas of greater Lisbon.
As for Estonia 96, I would not have placed those two in 5th, but I actually like the melody an the contrasting voices.
Estonia is only in 28th place on my 1996 list (including the non-qualifiers) … which equals last place of those that went onto stage in Oslo in 1996 …
I was always sure that they would return, so I was bumped about their decision to choose internally AGAIN… I’m not too happy about that. I think only once (Patricia Kaas) that really made sense…. I was hoping for a national final I can actually watch without stream problems ^^

On Portugal: RTP usually asks for songs for FdC in late November/early December. Nothing has happened yet.
Late November has barely started…. I hope Portugal can participate! They send some great entries (with big exceptions ^^)
Any country that has been going to ESC since the 60s has sent both great and terrible stuff, I suppose, and that’s one of the things that makes ESC a fascinating show.
Hope they have a great song, im sure they will – I love the french lanauge even though i cant speak it!!!
Who would you like to represent France?
My dream choice would be ZAZ, even though I don’t think she is really in to Eurovision ^^ and her career is too “sucessful” to consider Eurovision (it’s like that these days unfortunately…)

I loved their 2010 entry and that year their internal choice was AMAZING…such a great song..such a great singer and hot!
Last year I didn’t love, but I liked their internal choice and entry was nice..he also sang very good! I liked it!
So I hope this year I will be satisfied again!
