Norway: 11 Acts Known So Far

Norway – Norwegian broadcaster NRK continues releasing one or two new participants regularly for their national final Melodi Grand Prix, instead of releasing them all at once.

NRK announced today that the duo Yaseen Asher & Julie Maria Dahl are among the participants. The duo previously took part in MGP Junior 2010. One of the other confirmed participants for MGP 2012 is Malin Reitan, who took part in MGP Junior 2005 and went on to end up in 3rd place at JESC 2005 in Hasselt, Belgium. A possible reason for the MGP Junior-participants now participating in “MGP Adult” is because of the success The BlackSheeps had last year. The group won MGP Nordic in 2008 and came second in MGP last year with their song “Dance Tonight”

The song that Yaseen and Julie will perform is called “Sammen” (Together) and is about the attacks in Norway last year on 22 July by Anders Behring Breivik.

So far, 11 acts have officially been announced:

  • Kim André Rysstad
  • Isabel Ødegård
  • Irresistible
  • Malin Reitan
  • Marthe Valle
  • Minnie Oh
  • Nora Foss Al-Jabri
  • Plumbo
  • Reidun Sæther
  • Rudi Myntevik
  • Yaseen Asher & Julie Maria Dahl

The Norwegian national final will kick off on January 21st with the first of three semi-finals, with 8 participants in each semi-final. The final will be held on 11 February.
