San Marino – Senit is the San Marinese representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. In our interview with her she revealed some details about her performance in Düsseldorf and also said, that there will also be two versions of her song in “another language than English” One can certainly feel that she is a real Eurovision fan and very excited about her participation! People in Düsseldorf will be really interested in Senit’s plans in case of a San Marinese victory ^^ Read the entire interview with the very pleasant Senit:
Hello Senit, could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Hi! My name is Senit and I am going to sing the entry for San Marino at this year Eurovision Song Contest
I come from Bologna, my parents are Eritrean and I have worked in musical and already published three albums!
What convinced you to represent San Marino at Eurovision this year?
Well, first of all the idea of this contest: the flavour of different countries, the idea of different people living for the same goal (to honour music and peace)… and then the fact that San Marino is such a lovely place! You must go and visit, you will fall in love with it! And the people from San Marino are warm-hearted!
What can you tell us about your entry “Stand By”?
“Stand By” is a soft rock ballad produced by Christian Lohr, who is a great producer from Germany that worked with many artist all over the world. It is pleasant, it talks about love and it has a strong vibe that I hope everybody else will feel!
Is it true that you had prepared two songs and a jury at SMRTV chose one as their entry?
Yes we did! A special commission made by my producers and SMRTV people preferred “Stand By” to my other song. Well, I can’t say anything on the other song, who knows what will happen!
Will there be an Italian version of your song?
There will be two alternative versions of the song, yes, in languages other than english. Not necessarily in Italian… Stay tuned
How will your performance at the Eurovision stage look like? Can you reveal any details?
I can not reveal many details, the only thing I can say right now is that there will be a great Sanmarinese girl with me on stage: her name is Monica and she studies at the Ferrara Academy of Music! Gino Emnes will be on my team as well: we worked together in musicals, it’s going to be amazing to have him back on Düsseldorf stage!
Have you followed the Eurovision Song Contest recently and do you have a favourite Eurovision song?
You mean 2011? I do have, but I want to wait the final studio versions of all the entries! I have followed all the national finals and commented them on my blog, but I am still deciding what to think about each song, as many were live vids and so on… So far, the most played song on my reader are Denmark and Estonia’s one. But I am also listening to old Eurovision tunes like Waterloo or Every way that I can, and I remember Gente di mare when I was a little child.
And what about this year’s entries, your competitors?
It’s a tough semifinal
we are going to compete with many countries that always qualified for the final and all the past winners from the latest years… they have strong songs and I am excited about competing and getting to know so many professionals!
Do you have an aim which you want to achieve in Düsseldorf?
I want to have fun: I will try the hardest I can to reach the final, but I do really want to have fun! I mean: we are singers, we entertain people, we make everybody have fun, so why shouldn’t I have fun?
What will you do after the Eurovision Song Contest?
I will work on my fourth album, certainly! But right now I don’t know what else will be there… I hope fun and lovely projects!
And what would you do if you actually won the trophy for San Marino in Düsseldorf?
I can’t even imagine, because I could tear down the entire Düsseldorf if that happens!
And finally: Do you have a message to our readers?
Indeed! Hi guys! I hope you love the song and feel the same passion that we put in it while working on it! Follow me on my blog http://www.senit.sm
Thank you for this interview and good luck in Düsseldorf!
Thank you!
This is Senit’s entry “Stand By”

She remembers ‘Genti di mare’, I am glad she liked it. San Marino came back with a good song that will probaly be ignored by most jurors and televoters, but I all I want is for her to sound great live.
She seems like a lovely girl and she is apparently as frantic as we are about Eurovision ^^ Has there ever been a Eurovision artist watching all the other national finals?
Indeed. LOOOL Good for her.
She has just shot to first place on my most likeable ESC artist 2011 list … or she would have if such a list existed …
Buona fortuna!
always knew san marino was taking esc seriously and with delight, and always said senit was likable, too bad “stand by” is a bit mainstream, but of all mainstream songs it’s the best and currently 8th, right behind the untouchables 7
‘Stand by’ has climbed on my list too and currently stands in 19th place. However, everything up to 11th place is still possible for Senit. Ranking 11 to 20 is especially hard for me this year.
It’s definitely been jumping up on my list. It currently stands at 12, and it stands to gain another spot or two as 11 (Stella Mwangi) has been in constant decline, including a recent jump down five spaces. There is also one shaky song in the top 10 that might dip soon, but it has been constant so far. I see less reason for that one to change.
She’s such a sweet person. San Marino takes Eurovision seriously, but the song is not the best they could have chosen! Why only in English?
((
I*’m really excited in which languages the song will be recorded
Can you imagine Gente di mare performed in English at the Eurovision?
I probuly think they should have there entry in English to stand a chance of getting in Final
