Posted: March 1, 2011 by eurovisiontimes in Georgia

Georgia – The band Eldrine had been selected to represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 2 weeks ago. Now the band has announced that they have changed their front singer. Tako Vadachkoria will no longer be the most recognizable face of the band and is replaced by Sopho Toroshelidze. Sopho had been one of the backing singers in last year’s Eurovision Song Contest for  Sophia Nizharadze. She has also participated in the casting show “Star Academy”. She graduated from the Ivane Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire and is said to have a brilliant voice.

The video for the Georgian entry will be shot this week in the Rustaveli Theatre. The pantomime actors of the theatre will be featured in the video. Furthermore French director Pascal Jourdan has been engaged to stage the Georgian performance at the Eurovision Song Contest.

  1. I think it might help that entry a lot. It needed better voice desperatelly.

  2. i wanna hear the new version, the former girl sang fine in audio

  3. Shevek says:

This is not fair. Didn’t they know about their singing abilities before? The song won with Tako’s vocals. The results should be respected, unless Tako herself wishes to withdraw.

  4. Anthony says:

Tako (the previous singer) apparently had a cold when Eldrine performed as the national final winners hence why it sounded bad. Though she’s a pretty good singer overall.

But I wonder how it’ll turn out if Georgia makes that change in order to boost their chances of winning.

  5. Peter says:

According to Sophio’s interview with eurovision.tv, Tako withdrew because of a “contract dispute” … money talks – and apparently it wasn’t talking for her.

  6. Roselil says:

as long she sings better… I like the song!

  7. Razvan says:

Georgia’s entry is not bad, but it isn’t sang very well, so i think this change might be a good choice and improve the song.
