Posted: February 1, 2011 by eurovisiontimes in Austria

Austria - ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster has just announced the 10 finalists of their selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest. The 10 finalists were chosen out of 30 artists by a mixture of SMS and jury voting. Alf Poier, Austria’s representative in 2005 did not make the cut, just as the winner of “Germany’s Got Talent” Freddy Sahin-Scholl and the winner of the Austrian casting show “Helden von Morgen” Julian Heidrich (He had been 3rd of the public). The winners of the SMS vote were Leo Aberer and Patricia Kaiser with their ballad “There will never be another you”

  • Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner – Paris, Paris
  • Nadine Beiler – The Secret Is Love
  • Richard Klein – Bigger, Better Best
  • Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl – Oida Taunz!
  • Leo Aberer & Patricia Kaiser – There Will Never Be Another You
  • Alkbottle – Wir san do ned zum Spaß
  • Eva K. Anderson – I Will Be Here
  • Band WG – 10 Sekunden Glück
  • Oliver Wimmer – Let Love Kick In
  • Charlee – Good To Be Bad

Oh dear, how things have changed in Austria:

    1. Oliver Wimmer (he made it at least)
    2. Band WG
    3. Eva K. Anderson

What the heck is Richard Klein doing there? Austria has managed to slaughter its NF. :(

  2. togravus says:

I am very glad that Oliver Wimmer and Eva K. Anderson have made it with the help of the jury but I will terribly miss CAMA in the final. And Richard Klein 2nd in the jury vote? Who are those people? Certainly not musical professionals … or if they are, it is even worse!
Sellyy’s song last in the combined voting? Sorry, Austria, you have certainly ruined what began as a very fine preselection!

    • Shevek says:

Indeed, Togravus. These jurors sound like those third rate celebrities who feature regularly on gossip magazines and reality tv shows. They must know next to nothing about music and they must have the wrong idea about what ESC is now.
      I am maaad!

  3. David says:

I have a feeling ‘Oida Taunz!’ will end up being the Austrian representative. I’m surprised Charlee squeaked through, her song is very Americanised.

  4. Razvan says:

    Here is my ranking :

    1. Band WG – 10 Sekunden Glück
    2. Nadine Beiler – The Secret Is Love
    3. Oliver Wimmer – Let Love Kick In
    4. Leo Aberer & Patricia Kaiser – There Will Never Be Another You
    5. Eva K. Anderson – I Will Be Here
    6. Charlee – Good To Be Bad
    7. Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner – Paris Paris (i can’t believe the jury put this on 1st place)
    8. Alkbottle – Wir san do ned zum Spaß
    9. Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl – Oida Taunz!
    10. Richard Klein – Bigger, Better Best

I think any of the first 3 songs would be a good choice for ESC2011.
The songs 4th, 5th and 6th are nice songs but i don’t think they would be succesful at ESC.
The last 4 songs in my ranking are not so good, i can’t even believe Richard Klein qualified in the 3rd place overall and was 2nd in the jury opinion (shocking, those jurors must be deaf).

  5. mary says:

i want ALKBOTTLE! and it’s a pity that alf poier has not made it.

  6. Shevek says:

Here’s my almost complete Austrian ranking:

    1. ‘Let love kick in’ by Oliver Wimmer
    2. ‘10 Sekunden Glück’ by Band WG
    3. ‘I will be here’ by Eva K. Anderson
(I hope one of these gets the nod)
    4. ‘Oida Taunz’ by Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl
    5. ‘Paris, Paris’ by Klimmstein feat. Joe Summer
    (I like these two songs)
    6. ‘There will never be another you’ by Patricia Keiser and Leo Aberer
    7. ‘Good to be bad’ by Charlee
    8. ‘Wir san do net zum Spaß’ by Alkbottle
    9. ‘The secret is love’ by Nadine Beiler
    (Bland, boring and dull)

    I won’t bother ranking Klein’s pathetic act.

P.S.: Nadine’s bland, boring and dull song will win, imo.

  7. YES! Oliver made it! I knew he would! His song is my second favorite in Austria and around top 5 of all year (along Helene and Noora in Norway, and around 7 possible estonian songs depending on the live lol and im still waiting for Bosnia, Turkey, France, Sweden, Portugal now…)

I knew the juries would try to save a few songs, Oliver and Eva are good news and they kicked Julian out that’s good, but how did Richard Klein made it? Now joke entries do so well in televote let’s hope he dies live! I fear the schlager power of Charlee too!

my top 10 of the finalists
Oliver Wimmer – Let Love Kick In
Band WG – 10 Sekunden Glück
Klimmstein feat. Joe Sumner – Paris, Paris
Eva K. Anderson – I Will Be Here
    Trackshittaz/Lukas Plöchl – Oida Taunz!
Leo Aberer & Patricia Kaiser – There Will Never Be Another You
Alkbottle – Wir san do ned zum Spaß
Nadine Beiler – The Secret Is Love
Charlee – Good To Be Bad
Richard Klein – Bigger, Better Best

  8. Roselil says:

Nice to see Klimmstein no 1 here :D (I hope not it has been changed)

    Ich liebe dich Österreich!

  9. Roselil says:
