Belgium – Noon, today, Belgium ended the very long first round of its Internet selection, with 32 songs reaching the 20,000 euros limit. Indeed, the format was different from the simple Internet vote. In order to ensure that people would really invest in the songs they supported, the RTBF made people actually pay money for the songs. Only the ones who invested in the song that will actually represent Belgium, however, will actually have to pay. The others will be reimbursed.
Due to their political lyrics, however, the RTBF has disqualified two songs after they reached the 20,000 euros limit : they are Thoom’s “United Belgium” and Paul Biss’ “Manipulation”. This leaves us with no less than 30 songs which will battle for a place in the finale, on January the 30th in radio, when only 14 of them will be chosen. The show will be hosted on St Valentine’s day, with a 50% televoting and 50% juries will decide the Belgian singer for 2011.
Update: From ESCFlashMalta: In a very interesting revelation made by Eurovision-Info.net which is also a fan-site of the annual Eurovision Song Contest, the respective broadcaster, RTBF, will be holding another phase prior to the final which will involve both the internet and radio mediums. All of the songs will be performed live on national television on the 30th January 2011 where there will be a split between the votes of the people (internet, radio and television) along with a professional Jury. The best fourteen (14) entries out of the thirty (30) qualifiers make it to the final phase of the competition which will be entitled “Eurovision 2011 : Qui ? A Vous de Choisir !” and take place within the middle of February rumoured to be the 14th actually.

I have six award winning songs. They vary from sentimental to pop. Is anyone interested in using them for the contest?
