Hungary – eschungary.hu reports that the Hungarian national broadcaster MTV will reveal this Monday whether they will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. MTV had withdrawn from the contest due to financial difficulties. This lead to another Hungarian television channel, DunaTV, to apply for EBU membership to send an entry to Düsseldorf. Their application was denied tough and now MTV is likely to make a return. Hungary would be the 42nd country to confirm participation.
San Marino – ESCtoday reports, that SMRTV, the national broadcaster of San Marino, will make an official statement about the countries’ representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in January. Just a few days ago the microstate had confirmed rumors that it would return after a 2 year break due to financial difficulties. San Marino debuted in Belgrade and came last in the semi-final with the band Miodio.
Azerbaijan - This Friday on Azeri television iTV, Ilqara Ibrahimova and Eldar Gasimov were chosen as the 8th and 9th Azeri finalist . Iliqara won the semi-final and Eldar received a wildcard from the jury. The qualification round lasted over the entire week. The candidates performed a foreign song on Monday, an Azerbaijani song on Tuesday, a Eurovision entry on Wednesday, a song of their choice on Thursday, and on Friday the winner was determined.
