Armenia: Juries hurt our chances

Armenia – The Head of the Armenia television Harutyunian has implicitly criticised the jury system of the Eurovision Song Contest: “If the winner of the contest would be chosen through public televote only, Armenia would’ve won or at least achieved another top position”. Armenia’s Eva Rivas reached 7th place in Oslo. Harutyunian also announced that in 2011 the Armenian entrant will be selected internally by the National television channel again. The Armenian public will only be given the chance to choose the song. This selection process has already been used with Sirusho in 2008, when the Armenian public could choose between 4 different songs, resulting in the best result for Armenia ever. Whether this change of the preselection process has anything to do with a disappointment about the 7th place for Armenia remained unanswered. It has also yet to be seen whether this notion has any foundation at all, as the EBU still hasn’t released the separate jury and televoting results. (A voting analysis for Armenia will be published on this blog fairly soon)!

I don’t think Armenia would’ve been much higher if only the public had voted. What do you think?

Armenia should be happy with what they have! Always complaining. it’s annoying!

    • Morgan says:

I agree that Armenia keeps complaining year after year about everything. Their song wasn’t great and the whole performance was really cheap. True, televote would give them a stronger result with televote because of the huge diaspora : didn’t Armenia get 12 year after year from Belgium, France and the Netherlands where there are many Armenians ? France has asked for the jury to prevent that, and funny this year televote would have been better for France, but yet they ask for better voting to prevent those political votes, even if it means taking a risk for themselves. Having never left the top 10 is something not even Greece, Russia, Ukraine or Turkey have achieved even with their amazing results lately (due to many reasons) : Armenia should be happy.

      • Arthur says:

Well Morgan and other smartfaces before starting bsin about something you barely know i advice you to just googlefuckinthings …

“German experts have concluded that Armenian representative of Eurovision 2010 Eva Rivas was the best. “Had televoting decided the winner, Armenian contestant Eva Rivas would have taken the first prize, not Lena Meyer of Germany,” experts of Maracon Institute in Bonn said, according to Morgenpost.”
        >eat it stupid bitches<

      • Arthur says:

Besides Armenia didn complain omfg lmao wtf is wrong with you? and if they did it because of the reasons and not more than other countries and ofcourse not more than the most annoying and bitchy country ever in history of ESC – Azerbarjian.
Btw you probably glad Turkey not Armenia now gettin the 12 from Belgium, France and Netherlands(except this year). So any problems with you? Nope! NO problems let Turkey get 12 year after year from France for example.

      • I don’T even understand what you’re saying.. but maybe that’s better…

      • @ Artur: First of all: Don’t use swearwords or I will delete your posts!

Secondly: The link you posted just showed how many people voted (allegedly, cause where did they get this information from?).
The problem is: Germany has a much bigger population than Armenia. So if Germany gives 12 points to Armenia more people will’ve called than if Armenia gives 12 points to Germany.
This is why we have this voting system in Eurovision!

  2. I loved the song, but the performance was just too much… Showing her boobs close-up in the first sequence. come on! Can you be any cheaper?

  3. cab says:

After the first Jury/Televoter announces, Lena would have won too with much more Points then 246. Sorry Armenia.

  4. Jason Gamboa says:

I preffer only televote, at the end it’s almost the same…look at Greece-Cyprus or Turkey-Azerbaijan…And I don’t think it would be a problem…Look at Alexander and Leda they don’t have a great voice or putted a great show, but they were the favourites of the people.

I think jury was a way of protest of the West Countries to many years of none of them winning.

    Regards

    • cab says:

You´re right, the Jury changed absolut nothing. Same Blockvoting as every year.

      • No not true!

Germany only gave 10 to Turkey and they came second. netherlands only 6 to Armenia e.t.c

The juries changed it a bit, but you can’t change it 100%. The thing with Russia this year was, that the guy was very popular in that region, so he got the votes. And if you are a star in Serbia you are a star in Bosnia hence the 12 points…

  5. Odysseas Symeonides says:

Here’s my little piece of mind over Armenia. I, personally, love Armenians and I am even related to a few. BUT, all this moaning AND the fact that Armenia would finish in the top 10 even if they had a dog yelling on stage (hint: diaspora and televoting) is actually hurting the image of Armenia in my eyes. And I am sure I am not the only one. Yes, Armenia has had good songs, but not all was a winner. Play fair and one day you will win the whole thing!

  6. Arthur says:

_I don’T even understand what you’re saying.. but maybe that’s better_

Huh, what for comment is this? Don’t be arrogant dude. Anyway you did understand it that’s why you respond. The problem is that people here are seem to have no freakiN idea of what they talking about, they ready to accuse everything, everyone and at the same time they are unable to notice that they by themselves are whiniN, complainiN all the fu**g time often even w/o a actual reason.

_The link you posted just showed how many people voted_

Yes i know how those experts of Maracon Institute in Bonn got their results, it doesn’t matter now, but the problem is that people here whining about As if it was Armenia and armenians who complaining about this damn thing—
Now answer me what for God sake armenians have to do with this, or maybe they are guilty because of sharing this information on their websites and newspapers or what?
There is a other news- Lena has an armenian grandma(also its possible that the real one was the first wife of her grandpa the hungarian woman) and so what? Is that a crime to talk about it?

Odysseas Symeonides- _ Play fair and one day you will win the whole thing!_

This comment is so retarded, dude what do you actually mean? Why should Armenia be responsible for people in diaspora voting for the song they like? Is Greece playing fair? Azerbaijan+Turkey are angels? Russia ex Soviets? Scandinavian countries? Don’t bullshit please kiddo!

Eurovisiontimes- you can delete my comments cause i did use swearwords :) who cares? or actually do whatever you want. bye.

  7. Frank says:

I’m not hunting for anyone! And I’m not a native English speaker myself. I’m from Spain. All I wanted to say is: Don’t use swear words to get your point across. Makes you less persuasive!

  8. Arthur says:

    eurovisiontime
No arguments? So lets start to talk about english grammar? Do you think you’re smart now? By laughing me out? Well that’s so silly :D

  9. Arthur says:

wow you’re so annoyiN(g) i would looove to say a few words that will completely and perfectly characterize you but you know i won’t use the swearwords and not because i’m afraid to be banned or something (give me a break) just i’m not the brainless kid, i got things to say and i actually did. bye.

  10. Lilly says:

You are the annoying one Arthur. It seems you don’T have anything to do on this sunday!
Don’t let him get to you eurovisiontimes…

  11. Arthur says:

Oh God! Guys pleaezz stick to the theme, not me! :D

  12. “Hey loser get a life”
    “wow you’re so annoyiN(g)”
“Do you think you’re smart now? By laughing me out? Well that’s so silly :D

Is this what you call sticking to topic?

But ok. Let’s just stop this and talk about Armenia in 2011

  13. Well, I think this is not possible. Frankly, I think that Lena did not win juries votes, probably she got something like place 2 or 3, I don’t know. I think she won because of televotes. Still, I think that Armenia would have been higher without juries.
But now, what for do you guys complain? Wait ’till Germany 2011 and then you’ll have all the rights to complain about that competiton. Norway 2010 is done, nothing can change the result. So, I think that you are complaining in vain.
    Cheers!

  14. watchingprogram says:

If every contestant outside top 3 this year make a complaint, it will be really annoying and no one will care. By the way, her song is not atttractive, I think many people will forget the song in near future.

  15. Martin says:

Pfff ridiculous … Harutyunian could just as well have said “If the rules allowed only the Armenian diaspora to vote then we would have won”.

  16. Nick says:

Armenia would have achieved 4th place …

  17. anna says:

OMG they are relly serious her performance was awful and people started hated this song because of her performance and boobs. and the only 7 place they have because big diasppora just look what countrys was voting and she will see what everybody is toking. after her horrible performance people was sure this not even went to final but it did beauce is Armenia.
Anyway place is not important Eurovision is not singing contest
